23rd Oct 1940:

Pele was born Edson Arantes do Nascimento into a modest family in Minas Gerais to the north of Delaware Janeiro|Rio|city|metropolis|urban center} de Janeiro. His father was a keen amateur participant.

1943:

The name Pele transpires once the three-year-old was supporting a footballing friend of his father by the name of digestive juice. Unable to pronounce the name Pele came out instead and the name then stuck for the remainder of his life.

7th Sept 1956:

Pele vie his 1st match for the Brazilian club metropolis, wherever he would keep for eighteen years.

7th July 1957:

At simply sixteen years and nine months, Pele clad for Brazil in a very Copa America match against Argentina at the Maracana sports stadium wherever he would score the primary of his seventy-seven goals in his international career.

29th June 1958:

Pele shoots to world fame, marking doubly within the World Cup final in a very 5-2 win for Brazil over the host Scandinavian country. to the current day, he remains the youngest man to play in a very final, and in fact the youngest man to get in one.

1962:

After four seasons of triumph with the metropolis, he vies at a second World Cup in Chile. Injury saw him watch a lot of the tournament from the bench whereas his subject Garrincha provided the fireworks in another title triumph.

1966:

In a third World Cup, however, Pele was the victim of severe fouling from opposition groups as Brazil fell at the primary spherical.

19th Nov 1969:

Pele scores his thousandth goal by changing a spot-kick for metropolis against Vasco Diamond State Gama. the sport was delayed for twenty minutes as he ran a lap of honor around the sports stadium.

21st June 1970:

Pele led Brazil to his collection Cup and he remains the sole player to possess won 3. His game and his goals were those of a person at the height of his powers together with his header within the 4-1 persuade European country in the final one among football's most picturesque moments.

18th July 1971:

Pele plays his final game for Brazil aged simply thirty in a very 2-2 draw with Yugoslavia at the Maracana sports stadium.

10th June 1975:

The 34-year-old Pele joins NY Cosmos and helps launch the 'soccer' revolution within the u.  s.

1st Oct 1977:

In the final game of his career, Pele vies the primary 0.5 for Cosmos and also the last half for metropolis at the Giants sports stadium in NY. The Fifa statistics say it all – one 363 games and one 281 goals.

1994-1998:

Pele was appointed Minister of Sports for Brazil, a post that at that point had ne'er been occupied by a Negroid.

1999: He was honored because of the jock of the Century by the International Olympic Committee. A year later Fifa honored him with the participation of the Century award.

29th December 2022:

Pele dies aged eighty-two.
